It is a great privilege to invite you to the 16th biennial Convocation of our beloved community, North American Pacific/Asian Disciples (NAPAD), August 4th through 7th in Seattle, Washington. The theme of our assembly is “Be Hope for the World” (Rom.15:13, Heb.3:6). We want to be HOPE for the world in this critical time of challenges: economically, ecologically and spiritually as well.
제16차 제자회 태평양/아시안 총회로 여러분을 초대합니다. “세상의 희망”을 주제로 8월4일 (밤)부터 7일(토) 정오까지 씨애틀에서 열립니다. 우리 함께 모여, 경제적으로, 환경/생태적으로, 그리고 영적으로 곤경에 빠진 이 세상에 희망이 되는 길을 모색해 보십시다.
I urge you to plan to come to our gathering. Please register now online (www.napad.net) or by paper form (enclosed). Our keynoters include three renowned speakers on the theme: 1) Rev. Dr. Timothy Tseng. President & Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of Asian American Christianity (ISAAC), Alameda, CA; 2) Rev. Dr. Young Lee Hertig. Vice President and Southern California Regional Director of ISAAC, South Pasadena, CA; 3) Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins (preacher at our opening service). General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). There will be other great leaders at Resource Group meetings and workshops.
본 총회에 참설할 계획을 세우십시오. 등록은 지면으로나 온라인으로 할 수 있습니다. 3명의 특별 강사들이 출연합니다: 1) 북미주 아시안 기독교 운동의 지도자인 중국계 티모디 쳉 박사, 2) 훌러신학교 출신으로 한국계 여성신학의 선두자 영 리 헐티그 박사, 그리고 3) 본 교단의 총회장 목사이신 샤론 왓킨스 박사를 위시하여 다수의 인사들이 각 분야에서 대회를 인도하게 됩니다.
The year 2010 is a great landmark for NAPAD, as we became a self-standing and autonomous body of ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). At the Convocation, we will adopt new bylaws and form a new board of directors. Let us come together to celebrate our coming of age in ministry and to restructure our community for better service and witness to the Lord.
금번 총회는 획기적인 행사를 갖게 됩니다. 본 태평양/아시안 사역(NAPAD)이 금년부터는 독립기구로 승격하게 되어 새로운 정관을 수립하고 새 이사회를 조직하게 됩니다. 이러한 역사적 대회에 부디 참석하시기 부탁드립니다.
It will be a worshipful and inspirational time with much fun and family reunions, such as Cultural Night and the banquet. It is highly recommended for you all to take family vacations in the beautiful Puget Sound, before or after the Convocation. Please come to join your fellow Disciples of NAPAD in celebration!
예배를 통한 영감은 물론 다양한 순서들과 호화로운 연회 그리고 다체로운 “문화의 밤”은 제자회 가족 모임을 매우 흥미롭고 유익하게 이끌것 입니다. 우리 모두 함께 모여 경축하십시다.

1. Registration: 대회 등록
The registration form is enclosed. You may also register online at www.napad.net. The deadline for registration (등록 마감) is July 13th, 2010. The registration fee is used toward the cost of your lodging and meals for three nights and four days at Seattle University. (For the pre-Convocation event for youth, a separate registration form is to be used).
2. Transportation: 교통편
The Convocation will take place at Seattle University, 901 12th Ave. Seattle, WA 98122. The closest airport is Sea-Tac International Airport. If you arrive at Sea-Tac Airport by 4:00pm on August 4, there will be transportation ready for you to the Convocation. For ONLY those who arrive at Sea-Tac airport between 12:00 noon and 4:00pm on Aug. 4th, we will provide you transportation to Seattle University. Otherwise, you will be on your own for transportation. Please indicate on your registration form if you will be taking the (NAPAD) shuttle.
3. Scholarships: 장려금
There are some scholarships (financial aid) available for new church ministers, seminarians, students, youth and young adults. A group discount (for five or more from a church) is available. For scholarships and group discount inquiries, contact Dr. Yu: (317) 713-2685, or gyu@dhm.disciples.org.
4. Pre-Convocation Event for Youth Leader Development: 청소년 수련회
The pre-Convocation event will be held at Gwinwood Christian Camp and Conference Center, 6015 30th Ave. SE. Lacey, WA 98503, on August 3 & 4. For the youth leaders (up to two) of local churches, scholarships are available toward registration and transportation. For youth scholarships, please contact Dr. Yu. The number of the pre-event attendees will be limited to 40.
Registration for Youth: Two separate registration forms are to be used – one for
the Pre-Convocation event, and another for the main Convocation.
5. Donations: 희사금
Your presence at the Convocation is most valued and welcomed. However, in case you are not able to join us, your generous donations will be deeply appreciated. Of course, both your presence and your monetary donations would be highly supportive to NAPAD ministries. You may send your donations to Dr. Yu, NAPAD, P.O. Box 1986, Indianapolis, IN 46206-1986.
